Chadar Trek is one of the toughest treks in Ladakh. The total one way distance of this tour is 105 km. Most of the trek is done on the ice of frozen Zanskar River. But some places trekkers must climb icy rocks or routes and in Zanskar itself you can walk through the normal route used by the people daily. The temperature remains –15°c to –20°c during the day time and –25°c to –35°c during the night.

There is no fruit tree in Zanskar, the fruits are rare and all are imported trucks or Ladakh and Srinagar. The cattle consist of yaks, goats and dzos, each family having usually 1 or 2 horses to move.
