More about Costa Do Malabar

The Malabar Coast is a long and narrow coastline on the south-western shore line of the mainland Indian subcontinent. The Malabar Coast, in historical contexts, refers to India’s southwestern coast, lying on the narrow coastal plain of Karnataka and Kerala states between the Western Ghats range and the Arabian Sea.The coast runs from south of Goa to Kanyakumari on India’s southern tip. The term “Malabar Coast” is also sometimes used in reference to the entire Indian coast from the western coast of Konkan to the tip of the subcontinent at Kanyakumari.

The Coromandel Coast is the southeastern coast region of the Indian Subcontinent, between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal of the Indian Ocean.

Vasco da Gama landed on Malabar Cost, near Calicut in 1498, proving a sea route between India and Europe, Portugal became the first of several European maritime empires to grow rich from the spice trade with this area.

At Costa do Malabar we are trying to bring the traditional food and tastes from the South India. South Indian cuisine includes the cuisines of the five southern states of India: Kerala, Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.
