More about Harmony in Helping Hands by Rashna Gazder

RASHNA GAZDER a multi talented lady came to Karachi as a bride from Bombay. As her two sons grew up she devoted most of her time to them, and started teaching the piano and French language on a small scale. As her pupil base grew, Rashna and her pupils started performing in her own public concerts and annual YMZA Music Competitions. Rashna teaches Western Classical Music and a lot of youngsters enjoy playing the modern works of later artists like Coldplay, One Republic and The Blues. Rashna feels her class must relax a pupil from the daily stress of studies and tuitions. Those who learn French too either pursue it for foreign exams like O and A levels or AP French exams for the US, including SAT
in french. She has several discussion and presentation programmes in french in the vacations.
Rashna took to learning Spanish in the last two years and has successfully started teaching the language as well.
She established her home based embroidery line STITCH CRAFT Embroidery, employing poor lady workers. She regularly sells towels, home accessories, coasters, pictures, mats etc in cross stitch.
In 2013, Rashna's husband lost his eyesight due to severe diabetes. With the help of miraculous surgeries and doctors, he recovered. It was a long period of darkness and with the the help of both her sons, he regained his vision.
Rashna then decided to use her talent and that of her pupils in hosting company concerts for charity. The first one was for LRBT Eye Hospitals. Her group HARMONY IN HELPING Hands came into existence, which includes her young pupils and Senior guest musicians.
As they became very popular with this show, which was highlighted with massive screen displays, designed by Rashna's talented son Dr. Darayus Gazder, the group are determined to help further good causes too.
Rashna says her pupils are an extension of her own family. They all are united in rehearsing to perfection for future shows.
In November 2016 they performed in a fundraiser organised by Dilnaz Avari and Akram Foundation, for Chitral Education Relief., At the British Deputy High Commission in Karachi.
A poignant performance in October 2016 was CANDLE IN THE WIND, specially rewritten by Rashna and singer Brendon Emmanuel. It was performed as a tribute to the young Rovina Irani, who tragically lost her life in that month.
Rashna and her pupils are committed to performing in many more concerts hoping to raise funds for charity.
