The Castle was built in 1350 by The King D.Pedro I of Portugal.
It was exclusively used for hunting and the raising of peacocks and falcons. His son D. Fernando hunted there accompanied by up to ninety mounted Falcon hunters.
Later went to the D.Joao I, who stayed here with his wife D. Felipa de Lencastre. Also the window in the tower which offers a good view comes from that time (XVI. Century.)
The castle is located in Serra d’el Rei, 70 km north of Lisbon between the cities Obidos and Peniche.
