The University has a highly qualified teaching faculty that provides instruction to students in the fields of Arts, Science & Technology, and provides guidance to undertake research in agriculture, industry and allied subjects for developing new products. We are forever reassessing ourselves and our programs in order to develop and improve courses for meeting the ever-changing demands of the world and for preparing students for high professional standards while at the same time promoting personal growth. We are also reorganizing curricula to foster greater creativity in research and exploration into new areas that require integrating finely specialized research fields. At present over 650 students are registered in the Ph.D. programs of various disciplines under the regular Ph.D. scheme. It is our endeavor to produce at least 100 PhDs every year.

Keeping in view modern trends and market demands, our plans are bold and imaginative. The commitment of the University of the Punjab is not only to provide higher education, but also to carry out research and to deliver academic services for the benefits of the country and society. Fifteen new Departments/Centers/Institutes including a School of Biological Sciences and Hailey College of Banking & Finance were established during the year 2002-2003. Besides this 20 new programs were launched during the last three years.
