Akchamal

Akchamal is a medium size modern village located at a distance of 7km from Kargil town. Akchamal is a very important village bounded by other villages, Sodh valley to the North East, Pashkum to the South East, Suru Valley to the South West and Kargil town to the North West.The Akchamal village has population of 1909 of which 967 are males while 942 are females as per Population Census 2011Akchamal village has higher literacy rate compared to Jammu and Kashmir. In 2011, literacy rate of Akchamal village was 72.64 % compared to 67.16 % of Jammu and Kashmir. In Akchamal Male literacy stands at 87.60 % while female literacy rate was 57.20 %.
