A Associação Académica da Universidade da Madeira, a estrutura representativa dos estudantes da Universidade da Madeira, nascida três anos após a fundação da própria universidade, é uma instituição privada, sem fins lucrativos, regendo-se por estatutos próprios e demais legislação geral e específica aplicável.

A AAUMa é uma instituição privada, sendo também uma Entidade de Utilidade Pública (através da Resolução do Governo Regional) e também reconhecida pela Secretaria-Geral do Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior.

Com mais de 20 anos de existência e passando por diferentes direcções, hoje, a AAUMa orgulha-se de ser um símbolo da união dos estudantes da UMa. Receptiva a críticas, opiniões, reclamações, sugestões e exigências, acredita que o estudante tem e deve ter uma participação activa nos destinos da sua Academia e da sua Académica.

Em tempos de profundas mudanças, a Académica assume uma importância estratégica na defesa dos interesses de todos os estudantes. Existindo uma comunicação directa com os estudantes, a AAUMa tenta informar e formar o estudante a vários níveis.

About us:

The University of Madeira’s Students’ Union (AAUMa), the representative structure of Madeira’s University (UMa) students, was born three years after the foundation of the University. The Students’ Union is a private and non profitable institution, which is based on its’ own rules and auxiliary legislation, common or specific.

The AAUMa is not only a private institution but also an Entity of Public Utility (by resolution of the Regional Government). It is also recognized by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

Having been directed by a wide variety of people, today AAUMa is proud to be a symbol of UMa students’ union. Receptive to critics, opinions, claims, suggestions or demands, AAUMa believes that students should have the duty of being an active part on the paths of its' Academy.

AAUMa follows an important strategy defending the students’ common interests. By supporting a direct communication with the student, AAUMa tries to inform and educate the student bearing in mind several fields of knowledge.
