We are also positioned in a UNESCO protected area, right at the starting point of a popular hiking trail that meanders through a UNESCO designated, historic, rock-walled, Verdelho wine growing area.
The main town of Madalena is just 7 kilometers away where 2 supermarkets, museums, restaurants, bars and local shops can be found.
For the more adventurous, the imposing Pico Mountain, the highest in Portugal at 2,351 meters, offers climbers the opportunity to climb a classic volcanic 'cone' and from the summit have the unsurpassed view of the entire central group of islands.
The unit, although most comfortable for just a couple, is equipped with a double bed and a single bed in a large bedroom with a double sleeper-couch in the living room, in the event of more sleeping space being needed. This open-plan living room includes a kitchen equipped with gas stove, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery and a dining area with inter-leading shower and toilet facilities.
