Casa Sol

INSIDE THE HOUSE there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting room, dining room and kitchen. The sitting room also has two fold out beds allowing for up to nine (ten at a squeeze) to sleep in the villa. The dining room opens onto a patio with a barbecue, tables and chairs for outdoor dining. There are books, board games, cards and beach toys available for use. In one of the outhouses there is a washing machine and washing lines are on the roof. We ask guests not to smoke in the house and to please use ashtrays when smoking in the garden.

THE GARDEN is beautiful and perfect for sun bathing but also has shaded areas for reading, board games etc. We grow twelve different fruits in the garden and it is regularly maintained by our gardener who comes two-three times a week at random times. He has been looking after Casa Sol for over thirty years now and does a superb job.

THE SWIMMING POOL can be heated at your request for a small fee, though this is not needed during the warmer months. A man comes to clean and maintain the pool and usually does this early in the morning so will rarely disturb you during your stay.

THE BEACH, Praia Grande, is a one minute walk from the house offering calm waters sheltered by the breakwaters on either side of the bay, this is perfect for younger children. Bigger waves on other beaches are just a short walk away along the cliffs.

THE GARAGE is available for use if you are renting a car though this is by no means essential as the village is within walking distance and there are regular buses into Portimao. If you do have a car then other attractions such as Cape St. Vincent, Sagres, Monchique and Silves are available.

THE VILLAGE has a variety of restaurants, the closest of which is 50 yards from the front gates. There are more in the village along with several shops including a good butcher, fishmongers, bakery, and morning market. There is also an art gallery, tourist information office, a pharmacist and banks.

THE LOCAL AREA offers a wide variety of attractions for those able to pry themselves away from the beach. Southern Tracks is a company organising nature tours which introduce you to a rarely seen side of the Algarve. For more information visit, http://www.southerntracks.pt/.

Portimao, on the other side of the bay is a city with old cafes, sardine restaurants, a daily fish and fruit market, nightclubs and shops for all your needs. There are marine and water parks a short drive from the villa as are several golf courses including Le Méridien Penina golf course and the Gramacho, both within 10 km.
