Located in Vila Moreira inside the Serra de Aire and Candeeiros Natural Park. Rooted in these lands are the ancient practices of shepherds and animal farming which naturally lead to the development of the tanning industry in Alcanena. This heritage is now recognized making it the “Leather capital” of Portugal.

Curtmar Lda is a leading sheepskin tanning company in Portugal, producing mainly for national shoe and clothing markets. The experience gained over the years and our specialization in fur skins, together with the quality of our products has also enabled us to reach other countries.

The know-how we have acquired goes all the way from the tanning stage to the produc-tion of garments, and as an outcome we have established our own brand Martipel ® in 1984. The products we make range from accessories, to jackets, to decorating and handcrafted goods.
