Friends of Burns Centre

Previously the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital Karachi was the only burns unit in Pakistan. It used to provide treatment to patients from Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and neighbouring countries. The department manages approximately 20,000 patients per year, with an average of around 500 to 600 in-patients with severe burns, annually. Unfortunately with the alarming rise in cases of burns, the Burns Ward was insufficient to fulfill all the requirements and there was the urgent need to upgrade the Burns Unit into a full-fledged Burns Care Centre and Centre of Excellence.

Thus to bring hope for the burn patients, the Burns Centre has now been relocated at the more spacious heritage protected building; Jubilee Block within the Civil Hospital Karachi.
