Resistindo ao terramoto que abalou Lisboa em 1755, o proprietário à época aproveitou a presença do estucador milanês Giovanni Grossi na cidade e incumbiu-o da decoração do seu Palácio, ao gosto Rococó, revestindo o mesmo de belíssimos estuques, painéis de azulejos e pinturas decorativas que ainda hoje podemos admirar.
Ao longo dos quinhentos anos da sua existência foi residência de várias figuras ilustres que marcaram a sociedade do seu tempo, passando pela politica, cultura, até à atividade comercial além fronteiras.

Nos últimos cinco anos, foi alvo de profundas obras de conservação e restauro promovidas pelos atuais proprietários e executadas pela empresa CRERE, as quais lhe devolveram o esplendor e dignidade de outros tempos.

Resisting the earthquake that struck Lisbon in 1755, the owner at the time knowing of the presence in the city of the Milanese plasterer Giovanni Grossi commissioned him the decoration of his palace, according the rococo style, coating ceilings with beautiful stucco, the walls with tile ("azulejos") panels and decorative paintings that we can still admire.
Over the five hundred years of its existence, the palace was home to many famous people who
marked the society of their time through politics, culture and overseas trade.
