More about Murshad Abad Shreef Trust

What We Do ?

-Health

According to the latest figures, 72.9 million people in Pakistan fall below the poverty line while hundreds of thousands of others barely manage to have their basic needs met. Poverty creates ill-health because it forces people to live in environments that make them sick, without decent shelter, clean water or adequate sanitation.Providing access to healthcare and medication is fundamental in the fight against poverty. Healthy children can attend school regularly, giving them the opportunity to improve their future.Even where health services are available, they are often dilapidated and lacking the resources to cater for the community's needs. This means illnesses are prolonged, infections are not contained and many preventable diseases become a cause of long-term illness and often, death. Murshad Abad Welfare Trust runs projects to address the most prevalent and widespread diseases. Many of the biggest killers are also those which are easily treated with targeted medical care. Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust's health programmes include building, equipping and running medical clinics, immunization and health check-ups, and providing medication.

-Food Aid & Langar

At Murshad Abad shreed Welfare Trust, we focus on providing food and nutrition aid to communities in Pakistan under our langar (free food kitchen) programme. The langar is provided in Sialkot and serves approximately Thousands meals annually. The food aid is provided without consideration to caste, creed, colour or religious inclination.

The meal may include red meat, chicken, dal (pulses), rice.

Your continuous donations towards our langar programme leave an impact long after a single meal has been enjoyed. When communities have a healthy supply of food, children are able to concentrate in class, adults are able to work and earn a living- and most importantly, everybody is safe from the danger of malnutrition and ill health.

-Qurbani

When the prophet Muhammad (SAW) was asked:" What Is Qurbani?"
He answered "it is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim, for every hair of the Qurbani you will receive a reward from Allah and for every hair in the wool you will receive a reward "
Hadith (Tirmidhi) Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust Will Be carrying out Qurbani's on behalf of the Muslim community. Here are just some of the reasons why you should offer your Qurbani through us

*We will offer the Qurbani in the name you specify, which will be mentioned at the time of slaughter.
*The meat from your sacrifice will be distributed to the poorest and most needy communities, including widows and orphans.

-Zakat

"Alms are for the poor and needy, and those employed to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to Truth); for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of Allah, and the wayfarer..." Quran (Tawbah 9:60)

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, a duty upon every Muslim and the right of the poor and needy. Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saws) inform us that giving zakat not only fulfils this duty and helps those in need, but also purifies one's wealth so that it may continue to grow -- indeed, this is the Arabic meaning of the word 'zakat.'

One of the many benefits of zakah is that it helps provide a form of social justice: a way to redistribute wealth from the better off to those who are less fortunate. For this reason those that are eligible to receive zakah are precisely stipulated unlike the case of general sadaqah.Almost all of Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust's work with the poor and needy, including orphans, widows and the disabled involves working directly with those zakah is intended to help.

Paying your zakah through Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust not only allows you to fulfill your obligations and rest assured your money is being given to those in need and in accordance with Islamic law but also allows you to support our work with some of the planet's poorest people.

-Sadaqah

Hadith on Sadaqah/Charity
"Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.S): "We used to sacrifice Atirah in pre-Islamic days during Rajab; so what do you command us?" He said: "Sacrifice for the sake of Allah in any month whatever; obey Allah, Most High, and feed (the people)." (Abu-Dawood : 2824)

Why Give Sadaqah?
"Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire." (Tirmidhi : 2541)
"Sadaqah appeases the Lord's anger and averts an evil death." (Tirmidhi : 1909)
"Give the Sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." (Tirmidhi: 1887)
"The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his Sadaqah." (Tirmidhi: 1925)
"For those who give in charity, men and women, and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and they shall have (besides) a liberal reward." (Qur'an 57:18)
Many of us take for granted the blessings which we have in our lives such as food, clean drinking water, clothing, shelter, good health...etc. While so many people throughout the world can barely feed themselves and their families - forget about other necessities of life. Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust distributes Sadaqah in the form of sacrifice and cash.

-Education

Education is one of the most powerful instruments for reducing poverty and inequality and lays a foundation for sustained economic growth. Millions of children across the developing world are not in school and thousands more may never have the chance to attend. This has a serious impact on their future.Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust works directly with communities to ensure our education programmes are relevant to their needs. Projects are aimed at both adults and children and include Helping Them in Studies and Guiding Towards Right Field For them.Today, over 7 million children across Pakistan are out of school, mostly due to poverty, discrimination and lack of resources. According to official estimates, approximately 58 million adults are illiterate in Pakistan.

Poverty is closely linked to illiteracy - as both cause and consequence.

Without basic literacy or skills the opportunities for people to break free from the cycle of poverty are limited. Education opens up opportunities in employment, and lowers the risk of exploitation. For example, literate farmers are able to sell their crops for a higher price.Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust provides access to education or vocational training to provide a way out of the poverty trap. Murshad Abad Shreef Welfare Trust ensures that the projects are sustainable and relevant to the needs of the communities they serve.
