Em plena Serra da Lousã, nos socalcos da aldeia do xisto da Cerdeira, as plantas aromáticas são cultivadas ao ar livre, em socalcos, em clima de montanha a 650m de altitude.
O resultado é uma variedade de plantas com um alto grau de qualidade, destacando-se uma cor viva, aroma natural, fresco e acentuado.
Este produto natural é amigo do ambiente, promovendo uma maior biodiversidade. É produzido de forma artesanal, com amor e carinho, não recorrendo a maquinaria e seguindo o Modo de Produção Biológico. Controlo CERTIPLANET – PT-BIO-04.
A PLANTA DO XISTO é uma empresa de pequena escala utilizando a mão-de-obra local, que beneficia directamente com a venda dos produtos.
A PLANTA DO XISTO oferece a oportunidade de experienciar algumas tarefas do processo produtivo, tais como: podar, plantar, tirar ervas, colheita, etc. Ou, somente, cheirar e deliciar-se com uma infusão da sua planta preferida.
Pode, também, desenvolver a actividade de voluntariado.
A PLANTA DO XISTO teve origem na vontade de inverter a situação de total abandono de terrenos agrícolas. Em 2003, a instalação do jovem agricultor António Carlos Andrade, teve como objectivo criar uma actividade económica e sustentável na Cerdeira, aldeia que viria a fazer parte da rede das Aldeias do Xisto.
Ao adquirir produtos da PLANTA DO XISTO está a contribuir para:
- A preservação do ambiente, do solo e da água
- A reabilitação de terras degradadas e a luta contra a erosão
- A promoção do desenvolvimento local
- Um turismo de natureza responsável e de qualidade

In Serra da Lousã, in the terraces of Cerdeira hamlet, one of the schist villages, aromatic plants are grown outdoors, in steep fields, in a mountain climate 650 meters above sea level.
