Portugal Premium is a networked partnership of Portuguese top producers, little known to the world, but with a lot of quality.
They are small to medium-sized producers, with high-quality products (Internationally medaled), from some of the oldest regions in the world.
Still little known and recognized by peers and consumers – the pearls to be discovered – they want to affirm themselves in the export markets and complementarily between them all.
The route of the Portuguese producers has been long but steady the last 10 to 15 years. Some regions have been leaders in this movement – the DOURO is no. 1. Connection to Port Wine and Douro Boys has contributed to underline the Douro wine region even before Portugal. The Douro has famously been consecrated for more than three centuries to just one wine: Port.
And now it’s changing. Port is hardly about to disappear, but in the past 15 years or so, about half of the wine production from DOURO is now used to produce table wine. That’s really incredible. There is no knowledge of any other historically significant wine zone that has transformed to anywhere near that degree.
But that’s not only Douro. Table wines emerging from Portugal are thrilling. The best wines are stunners, truly world-class in their originality, flavor distinction, character, depth and finesse.
Recognition of specialized international press has grown. Portugal is now the beloved country of bloggers and "wine lovers" all over the world, by the diversity it offers and for being a country still undiscovered (low mass production), thus the growing interest of importers and buyers all over.
Portugal is home to a dazzling number of indigenous grape varieties that create wines of supreme originality. You’re looking at red grapes such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Baga and hundreds of others, and white grapes such as Arinto, Viosinho, Rabigato, Códega do Larinho and Gouveio, among many others.
Portugal is now gushing with stunning wines—and yes, stunning deals. Portugal very likely now offers some of the greatest wine values on the market today.
But buyers remain unaware... Portuguese wines and food still have not arrived to the consumers! The importers find it difficult to start importing Portuguese wines and food, because they still don’t know how to talk to consumers and make Portuguese products sell more quickly from shelves, without for “cheap” tag… and we hate that tag!
So Portuguese producers need to focus on a clear message, to the consumer, that when having Portuguese products, the consumer will LOVE what it tastes.
And there is a need for a different communication approach: a modern approach, direct and appealing to talk directly with the opinion leaders, consumers who influence others, and those who have purchasing power: “The Millennials” - a generation that did not know the world without the internet and uses it for everything.
The Advantage: there is an increasing need of consumers to know where do wines and food come from and know the story and who is behind the projects. A face associated with each project, personifying the products, and telling the story to interested consumers. This communications approach will influence all Vintage Portugal’s actions and plan how we will communicate about us: it’s a group of producers who want to talk with the consumer and want to hear what they have to say – creating a direct channel of communication between the producer and the end consumer: MAXIMUM LOYALTY!
Quality products with an image (labels and all communication materials) suitable to the message, with a price targeted to the right audience, and having a story to tell that is truly genuine, will add value to the products and making consumers belong to a valued group.
Vintage Portugal is an organized and experienced team in marketing, communication, PR, export and negotiation, with a dedicated, professional and serious approach to achieving success with each producer and importer.
The objective: the partners, the press, consumers will see the message and the competitive advantages of Vintage Portugal producers, and they will have individual gains, because they worked together.
Premium-Quality positioning of Portuguese products, by name and by region, will clearly define the identity of the group: "The Vintage Portugal producers are the unknown pearls of Portugal, the secrets still hidden and undiscovered".
