Introducing our teachers:

Sarah Fox:

(BSc (hons), Dip. Herbal Med., MIRH, E-RYT)

One of Sarah’s earliest memories was of her father falling off a horse and calling for her to place her hands on his injured knee, claiming she had “healing hands”. This lovely concept planted itself in her psyche and she dreamed of being a healing therapist from her early childhood.
Many years later, a little girl’s dreams come true when Sarah acquires an education in Clinical Herbal Medicine, Herbal Science, Holistic Health Therapies, Yoga and the manufacture of natural products and medicines. Sarah had a profound change to her health, personal life and mind-set with she embraced the practices of Yoga, Meditation and healthy living. Empowered with the bright positivity, joy and confidence that she found, Sarah knew that she had to share the power of these practices with others.

Yoga

Sarah Fox embarked on a Yoga Teacher Training course in 2010 to deepen her knowledge and awareness of the elaborate system of yoga. She is a proud graduate of Yoga Diploma Teacher Training and is a certified Yoga Nidra teacher. She has been teaching yoga since 2011, including tutoring on Yoga Diploma’s Teacher Training. Over the years Sarah has strived to continue to deepen her knowledge, studying Yoga all over the world. She has been blessed to experience some amazing and distinguished teachers such as Swami Shantimurti Saraswati and Andrei Ram Om. Sarah teaches many styles of Yoga including Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga. She has a keen interest in the nitty-gritty science of Yoga, including Anatomy and Physiology and the more esoteric theory, such as Subtle Anatomy. She has lectured these subjects in many Yoga Teacher Training Schools in Ireland. Currently she lectures Asana, Nutrition and Lifestyle, Subtle Anatomy and Meditation with Yoga Diploma.
Sarah believes that Yoga is beneficial for everyone and that the benefits of the practice, including mindfulness, equanimity, peace and balance, will seep in to every aspect of your life. For Sarah, yoga and well-being are a way of life that she wants to share with you through her teaching. Her classes can range from the strong flowing sequences of Vinyasa flow to slow and meditative Hatha yoga. Each class will have a strong focus on precise alignment and safety in postures, meditation, pranayama and the philosophical aspects of yoga, all while maintaining the grace and joy of the yoga practice. Her intention is to inspire you to practice yoga on and off the yoga mat, so you can live your life with more health and happiness.

Herbal Medicine and Holistic Health

In her Herbal Medicine practice Sarah utilises the diagnostic tools of Ayurvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine to create a complete holistic picture of the patient.
A bespoke herbal medicine prescription, comprising of tinctures, dried herbs and natural products are created for the patient to treat the whole person; physically, mentally and emotionally.

Sarah has been working in the health industry for many years, her career began upon completion of a two year Holistic Health course, comprising of massage therapies, aromatherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2003.
She draws on a number of therapeutic styles and systems to add to her trade. She has FETAC and ITEC diplomas in many styles of therapeutic massage, Sports Massage, Aromatherapy, diet and nutrition and in Tuina Acupressure. The Diploma in Tuina is awarded by Active Health who is affiliated with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, the World Health Organisation’s representative for traditional medicines.

To build a scientific framework and to understand the complex system of natural medicine and the human body, Sarah completed an Honours Degree in Herbal Science from Cork Institute of Technology. This degree focused on specific constituents of herbs, their properties and interactions. She undertook research to prove the efficacy of herbs as medicines through modern scientific research methods, backing up the thousands of years of tradition and use.
She followed this degree with a Clinical Practitioner’s Diploma of Herbal Medicine with Coláiste Luibheanna.

Charlie Boyd:
Hello I’m Charlie Boyd and welcome to Firm Feet Body Beat. Here’s a little bit about me. I’m a keen singer and songwriter. I thrive off live music and have always been an adventurer spending most of my twenties living, working and travelling in Asia, Africa and Europe.

I love being outdoors, rain or shine and spend a lot of time walking, hiking and enjoying wildlife. My other passions include environmentalism, social activism, feminism, dancing, discovering new music and cultures. I am often writing music and poetry and performing spoken word. I am interested in living sustainably, preserving the Earth and learning about wildlife.

I am enthusiastic about using my knowledge and experiences as a way of helping others. I discovered that self expression through dance and music and the learning of macrobiotics gave me the tools I needed to get in touch with my body and really understand myself. For years of dealing with eating distress, disorders and abusing my body with alcohol, drugs and negative thought patterns I knew something had to change. With an overall practice of eating a predominantly plant based diet and listening to what is available and in season, I became more in tune with myself, my body’s needs and my environment. I started listening to my body, expressing myself more with writing music, singing and dancing and looking after myself physically. Then things started to shift and change. I began to enquire what was serving me in all walks of my life, spiritually, emotionally and physically. The last few years have been a long journey for me and this is where the real healing began.

I am a trained Ecstatic Awakening Dance™ facilitator and Macrobiotic Coach and advisor.
