The Backpackers Asylum

The Backpackers Asylum is our fresh new addition to the backpacking scene in Faro and possibly the best Portuguese thing since the Francesinha, Pastel de nata or Cristiano's right foot.

Where is it?

Located in a former mental health facility right in the heart of the city, our little hostel boasts a truly unique atmosphere complimented by a beautiful rooftop, large common area, easy access to shops, restaurants and the Faro nightlife - Plus, it's definitely NOT haunted.

Who are we and how did this happen?

Good question.

When an Italian, an Australian and a Portugalian walk into a hostel in Latvia, and love each other very much, sometimes they make a wish and a hostel pops out a year later in southern Portugal.

Between the three of us, we have extensive experience sleeping in bunks and making friends with strangers - so we have drawn upon all of that wisdom to create a place with real atmosphere, comfy beds and a sense of family.
